Does coding sound intimidating? Not sure where to get started or what language to learn?
In this introductory workshop, learn a bit about programming and how to think like a computer.
Think of this workshop as your session 0 to getting started in the world of programming.
In this workshop we will cover:
- How does coding work?
- Turning tasks into programs
- Benefits to coding & use cases
- Overview of concepts associated with coding (What is a compiler anyway?)
About your instructor: Brittany Waltemate is the Research Data and Geographic Information Librarian in addition to being the liaison to the Geography and Geology Departments. Prior to UA she achieved her BS in Geography from Penn State and her MSIS from UTK. She's been using R for the last 8 years to perform statistics, analyze spatial information, and automate data management and cleaning.
