Using Python to Search and Retrieve Data from the Elsevier Scopus Database

Participants in this workshop utilize Python to retrieve citation data from the Scopus API. In addition to working with the Pybliometrics wrapper for accessing the Scopus API, participants will learn to do the following: 

  1. Install and explore Pybliometrics. 

  1. Query the Scopus API programmatically. 

  1. Utilize loops to automate data extraction. 

  1. Use the Pandas library to compile and perform basic data analysis. 

Some prior experience with Python is recommended. An introductory workshop will be offered on Thursday, September 22 at 3:00 pm in the Bruno Library. Please try and pre-register for a Scopus API Key: https://dev.elsevier.com/. Keep API Keys private to you only (i.e., treat it as a password).
